Success Story

From Policy to the Classroom: Protecting Akwa Ibom's Children

During Gender-Based Violence Awareness Month, ARHWF partnered with the Ministry of Justice to take Akwa Ibom's Violence Against Persons Law beyond government halls — into a classroom. At St. Francis Primary School, Atai Ibiaku, pupils and teachers learned their rights to safety and protection. It's policy turned into protection, one school at a time.

"The health education sessions opened our eyes to issues we had never discussed openly. From cervical cancer awareness to malaria prevention and reproductive health, the knowledge we gained has helped many women make better decisions for themselves and their families. We are grateful for the care and respect shown to our community."

Community Women's Leader

Akwa Ibom State

"The awareness program on gender-based violence gave our community the confidence to speak up and seek help. Parents, teachers, and young people all participated, and the discussions helped us better understand our rights, responsibilities, and how to protect vulnerable members of our community."

Community Leader

Ibiono Ibom LGA

"The team's visit to our school left a lasting impression on our pupils. Beyond donating exercise books and sanitary pads, they inspired our students to value education, personal hygiene, and healthy living. Their engagement was practical, interactive, and truly impactful."
